Wikipedia: Human–computer interaction Review
The Wikipedia on Human Computer Interaction gives a good detailed overview of what HCI is.
According to Wikipedia, HCI is a study of “design and use of computer technology, focused on the interfaces between people (users) and computers” (Human-Computer Interaction,” 2020, para. 1).
Another interesting finding from Wikipedia was that HCI was popularized in 1983 in a book called “The Psychology of Human–Computer Interaction” by Stuart K. Card, Allen Newell, and Thomas P. Moran (“Human-Computer Interaction,” 2020).
Article Review on Best method to teach children augmented reality from Science Daily
Science Daily published research from the University of Texas at San Antonio regarding best method to teach children augmented reality (AR). According to the University of Texas at San Antonio (2020), they found AR is best delivered using controller commands. A major barrier into wider adoption was that AR designs was geared towards adults that relied on voice and gesture commands. The words programmed in AR were words that they did not know yet or too advanced for them and after using gestures after a certain amount of time the children began to get tired.
Review of Lesson 1.3: Exploring HCI from edX course Human-Computer Interaction I: Fundamentals & Design Principles
Another course I reviewed was Human-Computer Interaction I: Fundamentals & Design Principles from edX, Lesson 1.3: Exploring HCI, (Joyner, 2019). The lesson covered a good amount of topics on HCI. It goes through different technologies that HCI is involved in. Each technology such as virtual reality, and robotics will have interesting outlooks in the future in terms of the challenges they may run into and how those challenges will turn out. This will in term affect HCI.
